There are various causes of RSI, including posture when at your desk as well as the position you are in when typing. Using an uncomfortable keyboard and/or mouse can lead to RSI There is no such thing as a keyboard or mouse that everyone can use comfortably. Ideally, your keyboard and mouse purchase should be based on this consideration. You may experience symptoms such as shooting pains in your hands and arms. RSI is caused by - you guessed it - repetitive movements. Whether this is additional keys such as a numeric keypad (Apple’s wireless keyboard does not include one) or a mouse with additional buttons, sometimes it’s beneficial to look around. Some keyboards and mice offer more features than Apple’s. There are literally thousands of keyboards that will work with your Mac! Features Prefer using a gaming keyboard or mouse? Have a really old mouse you just find more comfortable to use? Feel free! This means that pretty much any keyboard or mouse on the market can be used. If it’s a keyboard or mouse, your Mac can start using it straight away - just connect it. Your Mac is capable of using almost any USB or Bluetooth input device. As Apple only makes one type of keyboard, two types of mouse and a trackpad, not everyone will be able to use them.Īpple’s keyboards are generally known for their comfort and reliability, but not everyone will find them appealing Greater Choice However, you may find them uncomfortable to use. Good question! The Apple keyboards, mice and trackpads are very, very good and well-built. ![]() Why Would I Want To Use an Alternative Keyboard and Mouse? I’m going to show you a few ways to configure and use alternative input devices on your Mac. PS: I tried third-party general mouse backward/forward enablers, and they did not work well.Apple makes some of the best input devices on the market, from the aluminum keyboard to the Magic Trackpad-but they aren’t for everyone. Is this impossible? Of is there any way to achieve this? So, if I can deceive Logitech Control Center so that it thinks my M525 to be a V470 (or any similar model that is supported by it), the backwards/forwards buttons should work. I guess the hardware signal code for backward/forward from M525 must be the same as V470, because they work without drivers on Windows. But for some reason, Logitech has refused to support M525 on OS X. To my contemplation, that should be very easy for Logitech to support backward/forward buttons, because all the logic is in the Logitech Control Center itself, not in the hardware. Personally I do not find any technical justification for this. So, the backward/forward buttons of V470 works but not those of M525. The problem is that the Logitech Control Center supports V470 but not M525. It seems Logitech Control Center has extra modules to receive the backward/forward button inputs from hardware and send back/forward messages to programs. OS X, on the other hand, does not support them natively. On Windows/Linux, backward/forward mouse buttons are supported natively, so those buttons of M470/M525 work out of the box without any special driver or program. Logitech V470 is also very similar to M525 other than it is a Bluetooth mouse. There is no special buttons or features on this mouse. Backward/forward buttons are implemented as left/right tilt of the wheel. The Logitech M525 is a simple mouse with two buttons and a wheel. I know that this is a difficult question.
